Point Mobile spreads into 3 development stage – EVT (Engineering Validation Test), DVT(Design Verification Test) and MVT(Multi-Variable Testing).

EVT is the very first stage of product development, in which provides the sketch of basic unit performance and design objectives. It includes what the product should do, behave, and appear that will be appropriate with the targeting market segment and original product concept; EVT should verify what the product will be and how it will be designed. It would be main issue to identify what are efficient and innovative methods, what are expected obstacles to overcome and what uncontrolled variables are there through brainstorming and research. EVT concludes with firm conceptual design that confirms necessary various technologies, and how each component will interact with others with no technical jargon. EVT is the beginning phase of the product development, so failure to generate in EVT phase would be critical and destabilize the whole product development.

DVT or DVT 1 is where the product’s architecture is established. With the concrete concepts and results from the EVT phase, physical form of the product will take place in this stage; DVT phase defines the components, their interface, and behaviors. Most of visible development activities are in DVT phase, and the development team has current to be the biggest and the phase takes longer than other phases. Consequently, there can be misunderstanding from inexperienced product development teams that DVT or DVT 1 is the most important phase of the product development and it is the most of it. However, as product development phase goes more detailed, concrete conceptual design will be the road map of product development and it is the best way to avoid the failure. When a fixed set of controlled documents, which will bring us the functional products that meet the requirements, is prepared, then proper DVT outcome has made.

DVT2, if necessary, is synthetic formal testing and verification of the product and its design. The product is strictly tested to verify that all hardware & software requirements are satisfied from the minimum & maximum limits. In addition to that the product should also be tested with its suitableness requirement in user environment; in order to confirm the suitableness, the test should be objective, covers uncontrolled situation and the design is ultimately fixed. This phase is often devaluated because it has already been through DVT or DVT1, so the product apparently works or seems satisfying the functional requirements. However, there is no such phase that is not import on product development and failure on DVT2 phase will bring huge financial and time lost on product development.

MVT is the conclusion of the product development and final approval of the phases that have been through. This phase consist of producing and settling the manufacturing process and test documentation so that the product production can be made by the manufacturer. Many product development teams overlook that documentation is the most important thing of the entire process; it is important to develop a good product but if the production process is not stable then there is no meaning of product development. MVT is the key of successful conclusion of the entire pre-production phase and would establish the foundation of new product production.
